Answer
The Food in Schools Policy is a joint policy between the Department of Education and the Department of Health that has supported schools to implement a whole school approach to healthy eating and making healthy choices both at school and at home.
The Food in Schools Policy has also enabled a joined-up approach through the Food in Schools Forum which brings together officials from the Departments of Education, Health and Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs with other key stakeholders such as the Education Authority, Food Standards Agency, Safefood, Public Health Agency and CCEA to share best practice and oversee the implementation of the Food in Schools Policy.
There are no current plans to update the Food in Schools Policy and my officials continue to work with the Food in Schools Forum to ensure the framework remains relevant.
