Answer

Ulster University has announced its intention to commence a consultation process regarding a proposed staff redundancy scheme. This is the beginning of a process and the final outcomes have yet to be determined.

Ulster University is an autonomous institution and decisions on staffing and course provision rest with the University. My officials and I continue to engage closely with the University on the potential impacts of its proposals.

The University has advised that it will not be reducing the current number of courses available commencing in September 2026, and that all offers made to students will be honoured.

I recognise this is a worrying time for staff and students. I will continue to seek additional resources to invest in Further and Higher Education and I trust I will have the support of DUP Ministers in that regard.
