To ask the Minister for Communities to outline any consideration his Department has given to developing a swimming strategy for Northern Ireland.

My Department’s Active Living, Sport and Physical Activity Strategy, encompasses all sports, including swimming, and is guided by the key principle of getting more people, more active, more of the time.

Swimming in Northern Ireland operates within the all-island governing structure of Swim Ireland, with Swim Ulster operating as a provincial branch representing both Northern Ireland and parts of the Republic of Ireland.

Given this relates to sports delivery, I will ask Sport NI to engage directly with Swim Ulster to discuss current and future approaches to a swimming strategy.
