Answer

I can advise there is committed development for two large housing schemes on the northside of the Ballymaconaghy Road. Active travel measures associated with these include new 2m footways the length of the realigned road, a controlled pedestrian crossing near Knockbracken Manor / Laurel Grove Avenue and improvements to the roundabout at the Newton Park/Manse Road/Ballymaconaghy Road junction (Four Winds roundabout)

As these are developer led schemes, my Department does not yet have a timeframe for construction.

My Department’s Active Travel programme includes provision for a new section of footway along Manse Road connecting the existing public footways on Ballygowan Road and Manse Road and extending the existing footway facilities at Lagan College. Construction of the new footway is subject to the successful completion of detailed design and land acquisition.
