Answer
The developer-led road improvement scheme on the Knockbracken Road provides widening of the Saintfield Road to improve the junctions at Knockbracken Road, including the entrance to Knockbracken Healthcare Park.
The scheme will also provide a much safer arrangement by the provision of dedicated right turn lanes, pedestrian facilities, cycling provision and road widening to maintain 4 lanes of carriageway. In addition, there will be an improved traffic signal layout and new bus stop laybys.
The scheme is due to be completed by July 2025 and officials continue to work closely with the contractor to ensure this work is completed on time.
Local residents will continue to be kept informed of progress and planned closure dates, with traffic management and variable messaging signage provided to minimise disruption and notify all road users of the closure.
