Answer
My officials are not aware of any particular congestion issues along the A55 Milltown Road, Saintfield Road corridor over and above those experienced by similar roads within the Belfast area during peak periods.
Whilst there are no plans to carry out major changes along this route, I can advise that a scheme to resurface the Purdysburn Road is due to commence in March 2025.
My Department is actively seeking to empower people to make more sustainable choices, particularly for shorter everyday journeys and in combination with public transport for longer journeys. With safe, reliable, and accessible active travel infrastructure, individuals are more likely to embrace healthier alternatives to driving, in turn reducing congestion in our towns and cities.
