Answer
Road safety is a high priority for my Department, and we are committed to working proactively to make our roads safer and to address the needs of all road users. We are acutely aware that children and young people are amongst the most vulnerable groups using our roads, particularly around schools.
My Department is also taking forward a review on a number of speed related matters, including 20mph speed limits, and I plan to undertake a public consultation exercise as part of this review in the near future. Further consideration on the use of permanent 20mph zones will be taken on completion of the consultation.
Persistent speeding problems or persons driving inappropriately in the area should be reported to the PSNI on its non-emergency number 101.
