Answer

I can advise that the Department is currently carrying out carriageway resurfacing scheme between the Carryduff roundabout and Green Pastures on the Ballynahinch Road in Carryduff. This scheme is substantially complete.

My Department receives information from PSNI on collisions involving personal injury. This information is monitored on an annual basis and used to inform the development and prioritisation of improvement schemes at locations where engineering solutions would most effectively deliver road safety benefits. I can advise that besides the current resurfacing scheme no other works are planned for the Ballynahinch Road at this time.

One of the best ways to ensure safety on our roads and fulfil our long-term goal of eliminating death and serious injury by 2050, is by changing road user behaviour. As road users we all have a personal responsibility to behave in a way that keeps ourselves and others safe. The sad reality is that if we do not change our own attitudes when we are using the roads, our death toll will continue to increase.
