Answer
I am committed to promoting access for all public transport passengers and my officials and Translink continue to engage with key stakeholders regarding improvements for integrating walking, wheeling and cycling into all public transport journeys.
Translink have recently completed a £3.8m upgrade of the platforms at Adelaide station that has significantly improved access to all platforms, and which also now permit the stoppage of six car trains. Work has also been completed on a new spectator walkway linking the station with the National Football Stadium at Windsor Park.
My Department are also engaging with Translink and Belfast City Council to explore options that would improve pedestrian and cycling linkages between Adelaide train station and the wider Belfast Cycling Network proposals.
