Answer
My officials engage monthly with the British Government in relation to the car insurance market. As part of this ongoing engagement, the Motor Insurance Taskforce was established in October 2024. The Taskforce is jointly chaired by the Department for Transport and the Treasury.
The Terms of Reference for the Taskforce is to investigate the causes of high motor insurance premiums and to formulate an action plan to address them. My Officials have engaged with the Taskforce throughout the year, ensuring that relevant regional issues are considered.
The Taskforce is due to publish its report by end of year. My Department will consider the report's findings once published.
